Quail Run Nursery is a family owned and operated palm business serving the tropical landscape industry for over forty years.
Located between the mainland of Southwest Florida and the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, Pine Island has been home to Quail Run Nursery since 1974. As a leading supplier of wholesale, field-grown palms Quail Run Nursery has established a reputation of supplying the landscape industry with quality palms! With crops of Canary Island Date palms currently topping 12,000 trees, we have become known as Canary Island Date specialists! Pine Island’s temperate climate and sandy soil provide Quail Run’s recipe for hardy palm production.

Originally from Mitchell, South Dakota, Dan and high school sweetheart wife, Mary Kaye, moved to Pine Island in 1972. Dan holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Nazarene University. Dan and his father, Maurice, established the nursery in the same year.
Mary Kaye Stevens, Co-Owner
Also, hailing from South Dakota, Mary Kaye earned a Master’s degree in Education from SNU. She taught at Mariner High School, Cape Coral and later at Florida SouthWestern State College. She is the author of three local history books: Images of America: Pine Island, Images of America: Lee County Islands, and Images of America: Fort Myers Beach.
The Family—Dan and Mary Kaye’s grown children, Craig and Karisa, and their families are active participants in the life of the palm business.
